Bridges can help shorten the time it takes to move a transport to its destination by avoiding slopes and water. Bridges are a commonly used infrastructure in the game. Like everyone else here, there are loads of great features from the patches that I'd like to see put into the standard game, but I'd suggest this one as a priority over things like underwater tunnels as it seems like a 'core' element the lack of which becomes more galling by the day. If you want to use the Signals API in your mod, it's really easy to include the mod or API to your development environment, as the mod has a maven. Bridges without signals are one of those now annoying standout features for me - naturally a short bridge might not need one, but on long bridges where two trains could realistically follow each other, one has to stay at the head and wait for the other to get out.Īlso, for those of us who like using bridges for building raised up tracks in cities - a common feature IRL - this also causes problems. To download Signals, head to Curse Developing with Signals. ![]() My argument would be that as the game advances, some features of the early days come to seem more and more ridiculous for example, it's hard to go back to not using cargodist after having tried cargodist once. An easier way to solve this could be to add a context menu to tunnels and bridges where the path signal could be set or unset, but only for the entire construction. Unlike NewGRFs, AIs and Game Scripts, which modify OpenTTD from within the running program, patches are bits of code that replace or modify the OpenTTD source code, and apply changes that affect the entire program. From an interface perspective, the best way to handle this would surely be to be able and use the normal signal interface on tunnels and bridges. I'm aware that this has been suggested before and exists in the form of patches I'm starting this thread to suggest signals on bridges as a priority for inclusion in the standard game. Patches, also called 'diffs', are another way that OpenTTD can be modified. If the signal is one way, trains are not allowed to pass from behind. I would NOT recomment mods adding turrets on your trains, that make them a targed. ![]() Is it likely that signals on bridges will make into the standard game any time soon? Why OpenTTD doesnt actually need mods, and for Petes sake, stop calling them.
